Abstract

Recent advances in ultrasound have made three-dimensional ultrasound available. Its main features are volumetric measurements, multiplanar analysis within the tissue and imaging-rendering capability, allowing to examine the surface of different structures. Applications of this technology in obstetrics are reviewed such as fetal weight estimation, nuchal fold measurements, congenital malformations analysis and volumetric measurements. Gynecological applications are also reviewed as in the diagnosis of ovarian tumors, endometrial pathology and mullerian malformations.
