Aportes adicionales al estudio de los efectos del alcohol etílico sobre el sistema liberador de oxitocina, en madres lactantes

Resumen

Estamos analizando nuevamente todos los registros de presión intramamaria de mujeres lactantes normales, almacenadas en nuestro archivo desde 1961. En esta oportunidad se estudiaron 40 casos de lactantes que aceptaron recibir diferentes dosis de alcohol etílico para estudiar sus efectos sobre el reflejo eyectolácteo inducido por la succión del niño y sobre la actividad eyectoláctea espontánea (AE). Se estudiaron 80 episodios de succión y 63 espontáneos. El alcohol indujo una amplia gama de efectos sobre la respuesta a la succión que va desde su estimulación hasta su total inhibición. El efecto sobre la AE fue más homogéneo y más inhibidor. El alcohol puede cambiar el patrón de liberación pulsátil de oxitocina propio de la succión al patrón simple. El efecto más profundo del alcohol sobre la AE, posiblemente se deba a su patrón simple de liberación de oxitocina. Se discute la significación farmacológica de estos hallazgos y algunas de sus implicaciones fisiológicas.
