Suplencia hormonal durante el climaterio en el Hospital Infantil Universitario «Lorencita Villegas de Santos»

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo de 92 pacientes a quienes se les instituyó terapia de suplencia hormonal con estrógenos conjugados y acetato de medroxiprogcsterona en la Unidad de Investigación Clínica en Reproducción Humana del Hospital Infantil <<Lorencita Villegas de Santos>> en los últimos años. Se demostró una tolerancia adecuada a la droga, con disminución en la sintomatología. En el momento de ingreso el principal antecedente encontrado fue la hipertensión arterial (23.9%). Las complicaciones fueron ausentes en 96.7 % de las pacientes; en un solo caso hubo necesidad de suspender la medicación por aparición de enfermedad fibroquística severa del seno. Las otras complicaciones no pueden ser atribuidas directamente al uso de estrógenos. Se concluye que la terapia de suplencia combinada estrógeno-progestacional durante el climaterio es segura.
