Predicción de trabajo de parto pretérmino espontáneo

Existe la necesidad de encontrar medidas eficaces para la detección e intervención del trabajo de parto pretérmino, con el fin de disminuir la morbilidad neonatal y los altos costos derivados de la atención del recién nacido prematuro.
Frente a esta necesidad, y ante el advenimiento de la ultrasonografía cérvicouterina, se requiere revisar algunos conceptos como: factores de riesgo, la valoración del cérvix durante el embarazo, la medición de la longitud cervical por ultrasonido transvaginal, la variación del cérvix con la edad gestacional, el valor de la fibronectina y de otras prueban que puedan servir como coadyuvantes en la detección el parto pretérmino.
