Abstract

Smooth muscle tumors affecting the vagina is rarely found in clinical practice compared to those appearing in the uterine corpus. We present two cases of smooth muscle tumor presenting in young women, one of them being pregnant. Both patients were treated surgically and had a histopathologic diagnosis of smooth muscle tumor with uncertain biological potential. These tumors are classified as benign, malign or of uncertain biological potential or high recurrence risk. Macroscopic and microscopic criteria are described. Pregnancy induced hormonal changes may affect the tumors presentation.
