Controversy about breast cancer in situ

This article presents the principal aspects of in situ breast cancer; it describes concepts about lobulillar and ductal in situ breast cancer.
The lobulillar cancer is only a marker of future breast cancer. The ductal cancer in situ is a predictor of invasive cancer in the future. The participation of a patient to take decisions about her treatment is very important. Each case would be seen in an independent way and today there is a tendency to conservative treatment and no radical surgeries. There are precise indications to perform mastectomy or conservative treatments as cuadrantectomy or local resections.
It emphasizes the importance of free margin when we perform conservative manner, thus guarantee the success of treatment. The recurrence percentage is the same when we use conservative or radical treatment.
