Ethical and professional considerations in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Colombia

Durante los últimos 15 años la práctica médica ha sufrido una transformación trascendental. Aspectos puntuales como la relación médico-paciente y la remuneración del profesional médico han sido revaluados en forma profunda por terceros con intereses no-médicos. De un sistema de pago individual por servicio, ajeno a control alguno de instituciones o aseguradores, se pasó a un sistema prepagado altamente controlado por éstos. Las aseguradoras, las organizaciones de venta de servicios médicos y las instituciones como nuevos protagonistas en la relación médico-paciente, son verdaderas fuerzas comerciales que actuando en un nuevo escenario de "era corporativa" y bajo la meta de ampliar la cobertura en salud, mantienen al individuo médico bajo la continua amenaza de interferir cada vez más en su ejercicio profesional.Author Biography
