No existen en nuestros medios hospitalarios estadísticas que puedan dar idea de la incidencia de este tumor maligno en nuestro medio, únicamente se han publicado en Bogotá (no tenemos noticia de otras publicaciones en el resto del país) unas pocas historias al respecto en los últimos años; una por el doctor Humberto Correa[1] y tres más por el doctor Fernando Mera-González, este último hace hincapié en la importancia de investigar dicha entidad, ya que los tres casos observados por él, entre 6.030 del Hospital de San Juan de Dios, le da un porcentaje tan alto de frecuencia, que del concepto antiguo de la no existencia de dicha entidad en el país, pasaríamos a ser el de mayor incidencia de corioepitelioma[2]
