Leiomioma de ovario, presentación de un caso y revisión de la literatura

Presentamos el caso de una mujer de 43 años quien fue llevada a cirugía por miomatosis uterina sintomática. Durante la laparotomía, se encontró además, una masa ovárica cuyo aspecto macroscópico sugirió el diagnóstico de leiomioma, el cual fue confirmado por patología con los estudios de rutina y las coloraciones especiales de histoquímica e inmuhistoquímica. Esta neoplasia tan poco frecuente en el ovario tiene una histogénesis controvertida; sin embargo, finalmente se piensa que su origen está en las fibras musculares lisas de la pared de los vasos sanguíneos del hilio ovárico o en las fibras musculares lisas cercanas a la unión de los ligamentos útero-ováricos.
