Síndrome de ovario anarogénico

Resumen

El síndrome conocido como Ovario Poliquístico fue descrito inicialmente por Stein y Leventhal en 1935 (1), quienes correlacionaron trastornos menstruales consistentes en oligomenorrea, historia de infertilidad, ovarios grandes e hirsutismo, y un cuadro ovárico histológico característico. Años más tarde Goldzieher y Green revisaron y publicaron 1.079 casos de síndrome de Ovario Poliquístico en el cual informaron una gama grande de síntomas en que predominan infertilidad, hirsutismo y amenorrea (2) . Más recientemente se ha propuesto diferenciar entre el grupo de pacientes con esta sintomatología que pudiera corresponder a este síndrome y la hipertecosis ovárica, que presenta una sintomatología similar, con un cuadro ovárico histológico diferente y una respuesta distinta al tratamiento (3) .
