Siendo la histerectomía una intervención de cirugía mayor, en los últimos años se ha incrementado el interés en la literatura médica por estudiar sus diversos aspectos, sus indicaciones, complicaciones operatorias y post-operatorias, morbilidad, mortalidad y un aspecto quizás el más importante, la justificación o no de esta intervención.
