Caracterización colposcópica de la cervicitis crónica, la neoplasia cervical intraepitelial y el carcinoma infiltrante

A pesar de que en los últimos 50 años el cáncer de cuello descendió del 1o. al 5o. lugar como causa de muerte por neoplasia en las mujeres de los países desarrollados (9), en nuestro medio (y para nuestra desgracia) sigue representando, junto con las enfermedades cardiovasculares, el 75% de las causas de muerte en la población femenina (15). Se ha informado que el 2.15% de las citologías cervico-vaginales de rutina realizadas son anormales (15), y que el Ca de cuello ocupó por su frecuencia el primer lugar entre los carcinomas ginecológicos (1 ).
