La incontinencia urinaria de esfuerzo, es la causa más común de pérdida de orina en forma involuntaria, y muchos investigadores han demostrado que hasta el 50% de las mujeres multíparas acusa un cierto grado de pérdida de orina en forma involuntaria.
Así es como se define: pérdida de orina en forma involuntaria, a través de la uretra intacta, usualmente causada por un aumento de la presión intraabdominal, en una cantidad suficiente para ser socialmente inaceptable.
