Lesiones tumorales múltiples en pacientes de la clínica ginecológica del Hospital Universitario del Valle

Resumen

Luego de las comunicaciones de Billroth en 1889 (1), sobre pacientes con neoplasias primarias múltiples, el interés por estas se mantuvo por algunos informes aislados de unos cuantos casos, hasta gue en la primera mitad del siglo XX, estos fueron aumentando progresivamente hasta el punto que su estudio e investigación dejó de ser una curiosidad médica para convertirse en un verdadero problema. Billroth, en el trabajo citado por Moertel (18) puntualizó que no sólo es posible que en un paciente se desarrollen dos neoplasias simultáneamente sino que en pacientes "curados totalmente" de una neoplasia evolucione una nueva y diferente a la anterior.
